Position: Ph.D. Student, 2023-2027, (Electrical Engineering)
Heba Khalil was born in Tanta, Egypt. She earned her B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Electrical Power Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering at Tanta University, Egypt, in 2017 and 2021, respectively. She began her academic career as a Demonstrator in 2018 and was later promoted to Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Electrical Power and Machines Engineering at Tanta University in 2022. She also gained experience in the electrical contracting sector as a Technical Office Engineer in 2020.
In April 2023, Heba was awarded a fully funded scholarship by USAID to join the Smart Grid Interdependencies Laboratory (SGIL) at the City College of New York, USA, for a three-month training as a visiting researcher. This opportunity was part of “The U.S.-Egypt Higher Education Initiative – Graduate Scholarships for Professionals” program. Currently, Heba is pursuing her Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at York University, Canada.
Research Interests:
Her research interests include renewable energy integration, electricity markets, energy management, energy economics and pricing, and green hydrogen systems. Her current research focuses on decarbonizing hard-to-abate sectors through hydrogen-based technologies.
